Turkey Creek Tributary – Sustainable Project

Part of this Turkey Creek Tributary runs through the City of Shawnee, KS and had flooded homes, business and roads. The flooding was also causing erosion of the stream banks. Improvements to correct the flooding were designed for approximately 1500 L.F. from 57th Street to south of 60th Street. Pedestrian bridge crossings were also added to provide access to a school and Old Shawnee Town. BHC RHODES provided engineering design, bidding, and construction phase services for improvements. The project design combined concrete-lined channel improvements with a natural stream restoration plan to re-establish meanders, riffles, pools, and vegetation to stabilize the stream banks.
