The Piper Fire Station No. 12 is located on a 4.5 acre parcel of land in a growing area of Kansas City, KS. A portion of the site has been designed and reserved for a future city park. The 11,000 SF station includes three bays for a fire truck, fire engine and ambulance, decontamination area, bunk rooms, living spaces, day room, fitness area and public entrance. BHC provided design guidance and assistance to develop alternative site plans that resulted in the optimum benefit/cost ratio for the project. Once an acceptable site plan was determined, BHC provided civil engineering site development services that included site layout, mass grading and detailed grading, parking, driveways, vehicular accessibility and ADA compliance, utility services, transportation analysis, stormwater management and landscaping.
