Truck Route Traffic Study

BHC RHODES was selected by the City of Leavenworth to evaluate the volume and routing of heavy vehicles traveling north-south near and around downtown. The designated route avoids safety concerns associated with narrow traffic lanes and pavement profiles on 4th Street through downtown and in turn routes trucks through several blocks of residential neighborhoods. BHC RHODES also evaluated the origin and destination of heavy vehicles; many related to existing asphalt and concrete mix plants, along with the suitability of local streets for truck traffic. With recommended projects under construction in 2016 and 2017, BHC RHODES was asked to provide a study update that outlined the process for evaluating whether or not a 3-lane pavement section could take the place of the established 4-lane pavement section through downtown.
