Johnson County is proposing to replace a few existing facilities with one new combined building, accommodating the Department of Health and Environment, Mental Health Services, and the Department of Aging and Human Services. The new 150,000-SF building will be located on the county’s existing Sunset Campus. It will be built adjacent to the existing Sunset office building. BHC provided site design, grading, utilities, and stormwater management for the project. The project will be pursuing sustainability certification as well. The new building will be constructed while the existing health services building remains operational on the site. This will require extensive coordination and temporary relocation of existing utilities to allow the new building to be constructed while the existing building remains.
