BHC was selected by the City of Dodge City to design improvements to this historic corridor. Their classic brick streets were reconstructed to improve rideability while still maintaining the rustic feel of the Old West. New concrete pavement with on-street parking was constructed in the adjacent residential segment. Traffic analysis evaluated changing Central Avenue from a one-way street to two-way traffic. Extensive engagement with the affected elementary school, churches, and residents was a key part of the project effort. 

This project won the Project of the Year Award – Small Cities/Rural Counties – Transportation from APWA.
