Plans for Minnesota Avenue in downtown Kansas City, Kansas

BHC RHODES was recently awarded the Minnesota Avenue Construction Project by the Kansas City Kansas Unified Government. Services provided by BHC RHODES include overall design and engineering design survey.

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS (UG) is completing a reconstruction of Minnesota Avenue between 7th Street and 6th Street. The improvements will include new pavement, curb and gutter, storm sewers, sidewalk replacement on both sides of the street, landscaping and hardscaping, street lighting, and a new traffic signal at the 6th Street intersection. These improvements are a continuation of the prior roadway improvement projects from 8th Street to 7th Street. Additionally, 6th Street will be milled and overlaid with an asphalt surface south of the intersection to approximately mid-block as well as north of the intersection to State Avenue. The 6th Street improvements north of the intersection to State Avenue will also include new curb and gutter as well as sidewalk replacement on both sides of the street. Please see the included exhibit that shows these improvements and layouts.

Construction is scheduled to begin this summer. The exact date will be determined after the contract is awarded. Further communication is forthcoming as soon as this date has been finalized along with more detailed information regarding roadway closure.
