In Merriam’s South Park and Silverwood neighborhoods, recurring drainage issues signaled that the storm system needed more than spot repairs, it needed targeted upgrades that would work long-term while keeping disruption to residents as low as possible. BHC provided surveying and engineering design for storm sewer improvements along 50th Terrace and England Street, including a topographic design survey, analysis of existing drainage conditions, and construction documents. The solution replaced aging corrugated metal pipe (CMP) with 1,300 LF of reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) and used 1,160 LF of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) to reduce impacts from open-cut construction. The work also included repair and cleanup of an open channel area, leaving the neighborhood with a more reliable system and a cleaner corridor.
