The existing traffic signal at 6th Street and State Avenue had reached the end of its serviceable life and could no longer be properly maintained. With development improvements scheduled at the intersection, the Unified Government hired BHC to design parking bump-outs, mill and overlay work for the intersection, and traffic signal replacement. These improvements complement the recent enhancements at 6th Street and Minnesota Avenue, creating a cohesive corridor upgrade.
