The Richmond School District is building a 14,000 SF addition at the existing Dear Elementary building to accommodate their Early Childhood Center. It will include 10 new classroom spaces. The project includes reconfiguring an existing parking lot to accommodate separated bus drop off from parking queuing. A new parking lot will be constructed to serve the building addition as well. A new playground specifically for this addition is also being constructed with the project. The landscape was designed to be user-focused. Trees were located to effectively shade play areas, plantings were clustered in entry sequences, and utilities were screened. All materials were chosen for ease of maintenance and ornamental qualities exhibited during the school year for visual intrigue or outdoor class exploration.
