The Westwood View Redevelopment project is a new four story building, housing office and retail space, to be constructed on a site that fronts on a prominent thoroughfare. The site was originally occupied by a City park and the site of a former church that was demolished. The park is to be relocated through a separate, public project. The project maximizes the development of the site, utilizing underground detention and structured parking, while simultaneously preserving as many old-growth trees as practicable. The project faced substantial entitlement challenges, including rezoning and strong neighborhood resistance. Engineering challenges include relocation of existing utilities to make room for the development and mitigating traffic impacts to the adjacent streets.
