BHC was selected to provide the survey and design of this US 56 highway improvement project. BHC also provided on-site representation for the utility coordination, construction inspection, and materials testing for this KDOT-administered project. The project consisted of removal and replacement of approximately 1-mile of the existing 4-lane concrete highway. Work also included the addition and modification of turn lanes and intersections. In addition to the roadway reconstruction the project also included the addition of traffic signals, new street lighting, sidewalks, and trail improvements as well as landscaping areas. This high profile project was located in the Main Street Business District near downtown Gardner and required constant communication with local stakeholders and governing agencies throughout construction.
