Volunteers from BHC and PARIC Corporation teamed up again for Christmas In October. 20 volunteers came together to provide improvements around the home of a KCK family in need.
Christmas in October is a local organization and has dedicated 40 Years of rebuilding houses, lives, and neighborhoods in Kansas City. It is their mission is to bring volunteers and communities together to improve the homes, living conditions and neighborhoods of low-income elderly, veteran, and disabled homeowners, at no cost to them, so they may live in safety, warmth, and dignity.
The organization is supported by local unions, churches, companies and other organizations who provide donations – from grants to donated materials and supplies, volunteer hours, discounted service fees, in-kind donations, and financial contributions.
The volunteers from BHC and PARIC gathered on October 14 to begin their day of service. General yard clean up and landscaping was provided by the team, clearing away brush and trimming back hedges. New gravel was added to the driveway for a much needed upgrade. For the children in the home, a mulched playground was added, giving them a space to play and enjoy the outdoors. Lastly, the team repaired a screened door leading into the home from the driveway.
