To keep a busy arterial working safely for people walking, biking, and driving, the City needed improvements that modernized the corridor without losing momentum on its capital program. Through the Capital Project Engineering RFQ, the City selected BHC to provide survey and design for 55th Street from Switzer Road to Merriam Drive, using Johnson County CARS funding. The project replaces curb and gutter, upgrades the corridor to a 5-FT sidewalk, replaces streetlights, adds bike lanes, and updates the traffic signal at Merriam Drive to support safer operations.
