The ARE-ON Fiber Hut Expansion project deployed middle-mile fiber infrastructure backbone with up to 380 route miles of underground fiber optic cable and fiber connections. For the expansion of the Arkansas Research & Education Optical Network (ARE-ON), to 20 unconnected two-year colleges. BHC provided civil engineering site design and surveying for 17 fiber huts serving the ARE-ON Fiber Hut Expansion network. BHC also provided topographic surveying, boundary survey, property research and legal descriptions to support easements and dedications of license for the hut sites. In addition to typical civil site design, BHC provided design for retaining walls, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering and electrical engineering for grounding and retrofit of an existing hut.
