Construction of the Missouri State capitol building was completed in 1917. After nearly 100 years of continuous occupancy, community activity and tourism traffic, significant structural and cosmetic rehabilitation was required. BHC was selected to develop detailed exterior surface maps using laser scanning. Our team established precision scanning points and identified topographic features impacting the project area using high-definition surface analysis equipment. Unlike traditional methods of surveying which require extensive amounts of time obtain reliable datum, our team’s use of advanced 3D laser scanning technology allowed us to collect millions of individual data points quickly and efficiently. Ultimately our deliverable allowed our customer to make data-driven decisions about the Capitol’s restoration.
