The Unified Government designated Minnesota Avenue as a corridor for redevelopment to support revitalization of downtown Kansas City, Kansas. BHC was selected to design a portion of Minnesota Avenue using the template set in the 7th and Minnesota Improvements and Downtown Master Plan. New sidewalk, traffic signal, ADA ramps, parking, decorative streetlights, landscaping, and mill & overlay were constructed to enhance the streetscape. BHC also provided lead inspection services for street and drainage improvements along with sidewalk replacement, streetlights, and a new traffic signal in the 8th Street and Minnesota Avenue intersection. This project was funded and administered by the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS.
