BHC was selected by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) to provide construction inspection services for a highway project. The US 59 project included the overlay of roughly 8 miles of roadway from the north I-35/US 59 junction, north to the Franklin/Douglas county line. BHC services included oversight of contractor operations, documentation of pay quantities, and materials testing for the surface asphalt overlay of the existing concrete highway. The project spanned the entire 8-mile, 4-lane divided highway including shoulders, ramps, and a truck stop rest area. BHC worked alongside the contractor and KDOT to adjust quantities prior to placement of the materials. Our inspectors also collaborated to find potential areas of concern, and formed a plan of action prior to construction so the paving operations did not slow down.

This project was a KCA/KDOT Partnering Award Winner in District Four in the $3M and over category, and was the KCA/KDOT Partnering State-Wide Project of the Year.
