The Veterans Affairs Department will construct a new residential rehabilitative treatment program on their existing campus in Columbia, MO. The project includes construction of a new three-story 26,000 SF structure that will be located in the existing south parking lot of the existing campus. The project will include the construction of a pedestrian sky bridge connecting the new building to the existing hospital. It is intended this is an initial phase, with a second phase mirroring the proposed building. BHC provided site design, grading, utilities, and landscape architecture for the project. The site presented two challenges in the existing parking slopes to the location of the proposed building, thus having to rework the grades to ensure proper drainage. There are also larger storm pipes that need to be relocated to accommodate the new building construction.
