Near the College and Metcalf intersection, the City set out to close key gaps in bike and pedestrian connectivity within a study area bounded by I-435, 119th Street, Nall Avenue, and Metcalf Avenue. BHC first supported the planning effort as a subconsultant, then was selected as lead consultant to design the public improvements recommended by the study. To move quickly and minimize field impacts, BHC used UAV-based high-resolution photography and LiDAR to capture the design corridors, then completed full design topographic surveys once the City confirmed the final scope. Design is underway, with construction planned to work around the World Cup to reduce disruptions for visitors and residents.
